4 months

This month little man is getting aggressive with his toys and pulls them down! He goes to bed about 7pm but is waking up a little earlier- sometimes 4am- and then goes back to sleep until 8 or so. He was able to go to camp with us so he sat on a horse which was so fun for Bella. He burps like a grown man! He has started to suck on his fingers which if you know me, this is not my favorite thing. It is the number one reason I continue to offer my babies a paci. (You can take a paci away but fingers... not so much). Of course sometimes he gags himself with those little things. He has been trying his darndest to roll over to his belly from his back and boy, does he get mad! He is very vocal. Whether he is happy and talking up a storm or very upset and screaming his head off, he lets us know he is there! We went through our diaper stash so I started cloth diapering this month. I am using them while we are at home and still using disposable when out and about. He gets a lot of attention when we go out because he is so happy. He just smiles like crazy when people stop to look at him. Unfortunately, at home, he is not this happy. I am guessing he will be an extrovert.

Well, he had his 4 month well check today and he was 17 pounds! Crazy! He is in the 90th percentile for weight and 85th for height and head width. he grew 2 and a 1/2 inches in two months. She mentioned he was very proportionate! (which is very different from the girls who were always 25th in height and weight but 90th for head!) Anyway, we talked about his being grumpy and he showed the Dr his dramatic ups and downs in the short time she was with us. It seems as though he is as healthy as can be but probably just frustrated often times because he can't be as active as he wants to be which makes perfect sense to me! Just last night he was doing full on acrobatics in the den, hanging his head upside down off the boppy and trying to watch football with Daddy. He was also cracking up today as the Dr held him and let him "jump" up and down. Tonight Randy had to do this with him constantly just so we could get through dinner. It looks like it is time to get out the johnny jump up and the exersaucer!

Numbers

So we have this number thing in our family... Randy and I got married on 7/14, Bella was born on 4/14, Ava was born on 2/4 and Porter was born in 2014 at 4:44. We thought we may not get the "4's" for his birth until they announced his birth time, 4:44, and my mom mentioned that May 9th or 5/9 is 14 when you add them (or 4 when you subtract 5 from 9). It was 2014 but that didn't seem like quite enough at first, lol!

Anyway, just random stuff I never talked about after his birth.

FAMILY CAMP

This was our second year going to family camp at Camp Harrison and it did not disappoint! Ever since we left last year we have been talking about this year's trip. Bella asked us all summer when it was going to be time for camp again. It is close to Lenoir in Wilkes County, about halfway "up the mountain" to Boone, NC where I went to Appstate. Just being there is enough but there are also horses, ziplines, lake inflatables & slides, games, campfires and more.

When we got there we checked in and got dinner then we headed to our cabin to get settled and get some sleep. Ava fell out of her bed so she ended up in bed with Randy but we eventually moved her mattress to the floor which worked well the next two nights. Bella got a top bunk which is what she used to and Porter slept great and didn't wake the girls at his 5:30 feedings each morning. We got up about 8:00 everyday and headed to breakfast and then made our way to the Dude Ranch to ride horses and feed the goats, pig and alpaca. Bella loves horses and Ava is getting better about them. She has never been a huge fan of live animals, not even cats and dogs. When we were busy feeding the goats, the alpaca came to see what he was missing and eventually the pig did as well. The funny thing was Ava was so intent on keeping her eyes on the goats and alpaca and what they were doing, she never noticed the pig until it was sniffing her hand. We tried to calmly warn her, but failed. She screamed and backed herself up against the fence in sheer terror! Then she started trying to soothe herself saying, "Piggy. Piggy... It's a piggy." Randy and I could barely contain our laughter but of course we felt bad too. After all of that we headed to do crafts where we mostly just painted and then it was time for lunch.

After lunch we went to the lake where we swam and jumped on the trampoline and other inflatables. Then we went for the water zip. Bella wanted to do it right away! She went with Randy first and then she and I went. I lost my bathing suit so decided not to do it anymore. Ha! She and Randy did it once or twice more and then Randy did a few of the other slides. After all of that is was time to shower and go to dinner. They had other inflatables for the kids after dinner plus a pool party. That night ended with an ice cream social and dancing!

Sunday morning we had breakfast and then chapel. The chapel is the most beautiful part of camp in my opinion but my picture is awful in comparison. It overlooks the lake and some small mountains. It is gorgeous. I have gotten much better pictures of it in the past, but this was from the corner where I had taken Porter because he was so fussy! After that we went to ride horses again and do the ropes course...well, Randy did the ropes course and we did the zip line together (Bella and I). After that we had lunch and Porter and I took a nap while Randy and the girls went canoeing. Porter ended up taking an extra long nap so I stayed with him and they headed to the pool for a couple of hours.

After dinner that night there was a talent show and Bella told her two jokes. She also raised her hand to be a volunteer in another boy's act. I was so proud of her! We ended the night with s'mores, a family favorite!!

Our last day there we spent more time doing zip lines and the such. Randy and Bella did the plunge zip several times and Bella did it by herself even more. Randy climbed this huge pole, the "Leap of Faith," and jumped to grab a bar! It was so intense but he did great- not everyone could do it. Ava and I watched some and played "baseball" (which was actually basketball) together. Sadly, it was time to go after that so we packed up the cabin and headed home.

Counting down until next year!
